The Haunted Ghost Car:
Skagit
Highway (SR 11):
(Cole’s
Story)
For years, I have been looking for a
good haunted ghost car story for my blog when I mentioned it to my good friend,
Cole and his family. Cole then began to tell me about a certain stretch of
highway near him in Washington State where many car accidents happen each year
and a ghostly Sedan seems to appear to spook modern day drivers. Cole and his
son, John have both experienced this ghostly dated Sedan while driving their
cars during separate occasions while driving along the old curvy road.
Here is the history of the spooky road
and Cole’s paranormal encounter with the ghost car:
There have always been stories of things
happening on this stretch mostly due to its rich and harrowing history. In the
late 1800s this was an area populated by a few Native American Tribes and when
the local white man started grabbing the native children while they were
fishing in the area of Pressentin Creek, putting them into Residential schools.
There are still reports to this day that as you pass that area, you might catch
a glimpse of a young child running through the brush trying to get away.
This road is also notoriously known for the
amount of accidents that happen. At least 40 to 50 car accidents each year
occur in the 26 mile blacktop. Some of which have led to the unfortunate but
inevitable fatalities of people from all around the area. As usually happens,
these fatalities leave a residual energy in their wake. This is evident in the
long reported sightings of a ghost car.
In my case, when I had my particular run-in
with the ghost car. It was about 12:30 AM during springtime about 3 years ago.
I was driving westward toward Sedro Woolley listening to music as I often do to
make the drive go faster. I was entering the curvier area just before Day Creek
and as I entered the corner I could see a pair of headlights turn on behind me.
The lights weirded me out a little because of the shape of them. They were
large perfect circles and the way they sat on the vehicle I would say they
belonged to a 1940s to 1950 sedan. As we weaved through the corners he kept up
to me with only about 3 to 4 car lengths between us. The last corner was an
outside corner and the lights seem to get brighter and he fell back as I
rounded it. I noticed it didn't come around the corner and it was dark behind me. This corner has no pull outs or pull offs and
is only a single two lane area with no shoulders that leads into a
straight-away. One side of the road is a mountain and the other side has a
guardrail with a 9 foot drop into the Skagit River. There was literally nowhere
for them to go. I slowed down and watched but there was no one there, no one
around anywhere.
I later posted in my local community asking if
anyone else had experienced anything like this and got a few replies and many
saying that they have heard the same thing from others.
